Call for Submissions
Share Your Voice
Velum welcomes submissions from student writers and artists ages 13–22, worldwide. We accept poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, visual art, digital art, and hybrid work.
Writing
- Poetry 1–3 poems, 10 pages max
- Fiction / CNF 15 pages max
- Flash Fiction 5 pages max
Submit as a Google Doc with access granted, or email files directly. Include name, age, school/location, and date.
Visual Art
High-resolution JPEG or PDF. Include a brief artist statement (50-100 words). Multiple views welcomed for mixed media or digital work.
We especially welcome work that explores the visual language of technology—glitch art, data visualization, algorithmic patterns, and human-machine collaboration.
Eligibility
Ages 13–22, worldwide. English language submissions; translations welcome with original text included. Previously unpublished work only.
Review Process
Submissions are reviewed within 4–6 weeks. Selected contributors will be contacted with publication details and any additional requirements.
Submission Guidelines
What We're Looking For
We seek work that explores the intersection of technology and human experience. This could mean:
- Poetry that uses coding syntax or algorithmic structures
- Fiction about digital relationships and online identities
- Essays on how technology shapes memory, communication, or creativity
- Visual art that incorporates digital aesthetics or glitch techniques
- Hybrid work that defies traditional categorization
How to Submit
- Prepare your work according to the guidelines above
- Include a brief bio (50-100 words) with your submission
- Send to velum.magazine.info@gmail.com
- Use subject line: "Submission - [Your Name] - [Genre]"
- Wait for our response within 4-6 weeks
Rights & Payment
Velum acquires first publication rights. All rights revert to the author upon publication. We are currently unable to offer payment but provide contributor copies and promotion across our platforms.
